On 19 March 2018, Lidl Lithuania announced it has received EDGE (“Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies”) certification for its retail chain stores and a logistics center in Lithuania. An innovation of IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, EDGE awards building owners who demonstrate a high level of resource efficiency in their buildings.
"I am proud that our stores and logistics center in Lithuania are recognized as among the most resource-efficient buildings in the Baltic countries. Achieving EDGE certification is international recognition that our buildings are well designed, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. The design options that we have selected through EDGE, together with additional technical solutions, ensure that our employees have the best working conditions and our customers receive high-quality services every day," says Radostin Roussev-Peine, CEO of Lidl Lietuva.
Lidl Lithuania has partnered with the consortium of thinkstep-SGS to certify its portfolio of buildings. With global representation, thinkstep-SGS offers world-class auditing and certification services combined with rich expertise and experience in the development and operation of green building standards and the quantification of sustainable construction.

EDGE helps property developers to build and brand green in a fast, easy and affordable way. EDGE is supported by free software that encourages solutions to reduce energy, water and the energy used to make building materials by at least 20 percent, which is the standard for EDGE certification.
